Job Announcement
Full-time School Counselor
Location: Salt Lake Campus

The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an enjoyable and gratifying employment opportunity with our school. We are looking for a visionary and dynamic individual to fill the position of School Counselor located in Salt Lake City, UT.

This is a full time teacher contract position for 183 days.

Principal Duties
As a School Counselor you will:
● Provide counseling and related services for students who are deaf/hard-of-hearing with the possibility of
multiple disabilities.
● Determine nature and degree of problems, evaluate students and provide solutions.
● Provide training to teachers and staff to deal with behavior problems of students.
● Participate in the development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
● Provide social skills training to students, counsel with students on individual or group basis, document student progress, compile case histories, and prepare other related reports.

The Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will possess or eligibility of:
● Master’s degree in School Counseling
● State of Utah Educator License with Counselor endorsement.
● Completion of a criminal background check.
● Ability to travel statewide to USDB, district, and other agency sites as necessary.
● ASLPI rating of 3 or better
● Preference will be given to deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals.

Compensation
Salary based on Teacher Salary Schedule commensurate with education and experience. This position is eligible for a full benefits package including medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, a retirement plan, personal and sick leave, and other valuable benefits.
